Dr. Angela Johnson

Dr. Angela Marie Johnson is a community-engaged social scientist and maternal health advocate with more than 20 years’ experience advancing improvements in maternal and child health.
Dr. Johnson leads the development of education, health promotion, training, and intervention research programs for health professionals, students, organizations, and general audiences who are interested in addressing socially contextualized factors shaping the maternal health landscape. Her work is designed to integrate societal phenomena as critical context for inequitable outcomes in health, social injustice, and to inform the development of health interventions that help shape positive maternal health outcomes, especially for Black women. Dr. Johnson’s work has informed maternal and child health programs, policy, and research.
Her work is published internationally in several top-tier peer reviewed scientific journals, books, online, and in other outlets.
Dr. Johnson is a proud partner to one, Oliver, and mother to three adult children: Khai, Olivia, and Kaleb.
